New post for TV producer

Mr Malcolm Kemp, a Television New Zealand producer, has been appointed head of entertainment for TVNZ.

Mr Kemp, aged 37, will fill the post formerly held by Mr Tom Parkinson, who resigned on ■'March 23 to head the TV3 consortium applying for a third channel warrant.

Mr Kemp joined the former New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation in 1965 as a technical trainee. After moving to studio cameras, he began directing in 1975. This year Mr Kemp won Feltex television awards for best entertainment programme (the Michael Fowler Centre opening series), and best actuality (his outside broadcast of Sir Keith Holyoake’s funeral). Most recently, he directed television coverage of the General Election last Saturday evening.
