Five hurt on roads
Five persons were seriously injured in four separate accidents on Canterbury roads yesterday. Three of the injured are motor-cyclists who were hurt in two separate accidents in Marine Parade, New Brighton. A youth, aged 17, suffered serious injuries after the motor-cycle he was riding and a car collided in Marine Parade about 7.30 a.m. The youth, whose name was not available, was reported seriously ill in Christchurch
Hospital late last evening. Two men suffered serious leg injuries after the motorcycle they were riding and a car collided in Marine Parade about 5.40 p.m., said a St John Ambulance spokesman. They were taken to Christchurch Hospital. Their condition and names were not available late last evening An Ohoka woman, Kathryn Sandus, aged 18, of R.D.2, Kaiapoi, was taken to hospital with serious head
injuries yesterday morning after the car she was travelling in and a grader collided. The accident happened on Bradleys Road, Ohoka, just before 9 a.m. Her condition was not available late last evening. A boy, aged six, suffered serious leg injuries after the car he was travelling in struck a safety fence on River Road at 6.54 p.m. He was taken to Christchurch Hospital. His name and condition were not available late last evening.
