Corporation given $lOOO
The Heathcote County Council will give $lOOO to the Canterbury Development Corporation this year. The grant was approved by the council’s finance and administration committee last evening after the corporation’s chief executive, Mr Douglas Kerr, had outlined what the corporation’s
aims were and how it intended to achieve them. Coin meters The electricity committee will be asked to consider installing coin-operated electricity meters for panel heaters in the council’s community centres. The
finance and administration committee rejected a proposal that the council consider grants to the community centres to cover increased tariffs because people from all parts of Christchurch attended the centres and Heathcote ratepayers should not have to subsidise them.
