P.M. ‘to be encouraged’

PA Wellington The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, would be encouraged under a Labour Government to continue spreading his monetary reform ideas overseas. The leader of the Labour Party, Mr Lange, last evening repeated his leaders’ debate assertion that a de-

feated Sir Robert would have a contribution to make in opposition. “I think that he could make a contribution in the area of moving in the international community advancing his views with respect to monetary reconstruction,” Mr Lange said, in a television interview.

“I don’t think that we should throw out people of capacity,” he said. “I regret that we have in New Zealand a tradition of seeking to extinguish people whose only fault was that they lost.” He concluded by saying: “But can you imagine that he would disappear?”
