‘Bluff or bust’ achieved
PA Wellington Southern Maori’s Independent candidate, Mr Te Ringa Mangu (Dun) Mihaka, has hitch-hiked his way round his vast electorate before his final campaign meeting this evening in Porirua. Still enveloped in his campaign poncho, with his
name and status emblazoned across it in huge letters, Mr Mihaka said that he had managed to achieve his goal of “Bluff or bust." Supporters had promised to circulate his pamphlets in towns that he had been unable to visit, he said. Mr Mihaka said he was standing for election be-
cause he wanted to expose the “fraudulent nature” of Parliamentary politics. He had had a good response from people who were delighted to meet and talk informally with a candidate. This evening’s meeting of all Southern Maori candidates is at the Maraeroa marae, Waitangirua.
