The BMW 318 i has been introduced in New Zealand in two and four-door versions, tentative prices starting from $28,600. This is the four-cylinder fuel-injected model in the 3 Series BMW range with which most New Zealanders are now familiar. The car is fitted with a 1766 cu. cm engine which is fed by the Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection system. This engine is, to all intents and purposes, the basis of the turbocharged 1.5-litre BMW engines which power the Brabham Formula 1 racers with which Nelson Piquet, of Brazil, won the 1983
