Lonsdale label goes
Lonsdale, the name under which the Australian Mitsubishi Sigma has been marketed in Britain, has been dropped. Only 504 people bought Lonsdales in Britain last year. Use of the Lonsdale label was originally intended as a way of circumventing the “gentlemen’s agreement” on Japanese imports to Britain, but in future the AustralianbuiltJapanese cars will be
sold as part of the Mitsubishi Colt range in the United Kingdom. The British Mitsubishi importer is the Colt Car Company, which has just undergone a period of reorganisation under the new managing director. Mitsubishis have been sold under the Colt as well as the Lonsdale label in Britain. In future they will be sold under the Mitsubishi label.
