Winstone stand out on market
Winstone stood out on a gain of 17c among market leaders on a firm, moderately active New Zealand Stock Exchange yesterday. Feltex improved 5c in busy trading, and other issues to gain 5c included ANZ Banking Group, Brierley, and NZ News. However, NZ Forest Products was steady, and Fletcher Challenge and NZI Corporation were easier. Colyer Watson rose a further 30c in reaction to the news that Mair had taken a controlling interest in the company, but Brother lost 10c to 260 c, the first time it has traded since announcing a cash issue. United Publishing firmed 5c to 645 c in quiet trading, after ’BO,OOO shares changed hands on Wednesday. A special sale of Command changed hands at 310 c, 30c below the last market price. The Barclays industrial index rose 4.78 points to 1289.54. On the oil sector, Horizon was firmer and busy in reaction to the new well’s being spudded in off the West Coast, near Karamea.
