Workman rescued
PA Wellington A construction worker fell 19 metres down the shaft of a foundation pile in Wellington yesterday morning. He was trapped for 45 minutes before being lifted out by a crane.
The accident happened at 9.20 a.m. The man was lifted out in a new Stokes basket, conscious and with a bandaged head. Ambulance officers said he had suspected back and abdominal injuries.
