The economy

Sir—The report on June 20 “Bleak forecast for N.Z.” from the “Financial Review,” Sydney, was a down-to-earth factual analysis. It is curious that such an article from a New Zealand journal has not been forthcoming. If one has been reported in “The Press” I must have missed it. Apart from the unarguable “Economic reign of terror,” Sir Robert Muldoon’s other accomplishments include dividing the nation, hounding the media and pressurising his own party with Mohammed Ali-type assertions. Sir Robert has never made a mistake; is not worried about our overseas debts or internal deficit and, according to “The Press” (May 11), he frequently communicates with God to keep the direction of government within what Sir Robert sees as divine law. — Yours, etc., ARTHUR MAY. June 20, 1984.
