Helicopter flights
Sir, — It was reported in “The Press” on June 8, that Garden City Heliflights wishes to run scenic flights from a base near the airport. Light planes are very suitable for scenic flights, and the engine noise is well tolerated by residents in the scenic area. The noise of helicopter engines, however, is penetrating and invades the peace of these residents. Christchurch residents were exposed to this one, Sunday last summer when there was an open day at the International Airport. I sincerely hope that the City Council has no intention of regularly inflicting this ordeal on its residents. — Yours, etc.,
M. DOWDS. June 18, 1984.
