MX missile tests well
NZPA-Reuter Washington
The head of the United States Air Force's MX programme said yesterday that the new missile’s first test flights had achieved success which would help bring the Soviet Union to arms control talks.
Brigadier-General Gordon Fornell told a news conference that he was pleased with the first test results.
“I anticipate to go to deployment on schedule,” he said.
The first five tests, during the last 12 months, ended on Monday. The first 10 missiles will be deployed in 1986.
