In Orf gallops keenly in Hastings trial

Special correspondent ’ Hastings

A smart workout by In Orf and a sound trial from Master Blaster and Exocet highlighted the Hastings track session on Tuesday.

Fast work was held on the plough and No. 1 grass. Both tracks were firm.

The course proper is very firm for Saturday’s Hawke’s Bay meeting and the sprinklers have been going over the last two days. Showers are predicted for later in the week, but conditions are unnaturally firm for this time of the year. In Orf started a little behind her stablemate, Volition, when they left the 800 m peg on the plough but finished in front, clocking a

smart 50.45, the last 600 m in 36.85.

In Orf has won two barrier trials and run some great track times over the last two months. She steps out in the County Maiden on Saturday.

Master Blaster and Exocet registered a fast Imin 16.2 s for 1200 m, the last 800 m in 49.8 s and the final 600 m in 375. Exocet has trained on since racing at Wanganui earlier in the month. He steps up to class one in the Winter Handicap on Saturday.

Master Blaster, placed on a wet track at Wanganui at his last start, is entered for the Rotopai Handicap on Saturday. Jailboy was working well at the end of a solo 1000 m

in Imin 6.75, the last 800 m in 52.2 s and the final 600 m in 38.45. He has been bogged down by wet tracks in his last few starts and could show improvement on firmer going this week. Clarehaven ran 800 m in 51.35, the last 600 m in 38s. She has rejoined the Don Sellwood stable after having a couple of races in the South Island. She was a trials winner at Hastings last week.

Stylish and Darina clocked Imin 5s for 1000 m, the last 600 m in 37.85, while Mindy’s Star worked in from the 1000 m peg and ran the last 800 m in 52.3 s and the last 600 m in 38.85.

Super Alice and Raru Raru did well to run 800 m on the plough in 49.95, the last CTOm in 37.15.
