No beech chipwood sales

Wellington reporter No beech chipwood is being produced from State forests in the Maruia-Mur-chison area, according to the Minister of Forests, Mr Elworthy.

He was replying to a question in Parliament by Mr T. K. Burke (Lab., West Coast) asking the price paid for beech destined for chipping. Some beech chipwood logging had been done on freehold land in the area, Mr Elworthy said, but he had no precise details of the volume being recovered or the prices paid.
