Float leak upsetting

News that a shipping float is to be launched, involving Mr Brooke McKenzie, the chairman of Pacifica Shipping Company. Ltd. left Mr McKenzie "flabbergasted" about howsuch information could have become public. Pacifica owns the Spirit of Free Enterprise interisland cargo ferry between Lyttelton and Wellington, and a report that it was to be joined by a passenger vessel running the same route after a share float of $lO million produced a "no

comment" from Mr McKen zie.

"I'm staggered that such information can be leaked. Quite honestly. I'm speechless." Mr McKenzie said.

The proposed vessel for the passenger service is believed io be a cross between a hovercraft and a catamaran.

Although it is early days yet before any float may go ahead, it is believed that discussions have been held with the Wellington sharebroking firm. Jarden and Company.
