Referees to Brisbane

Two Canterbury rugby referees, Tom Hannan and Robin McSporran, will be blowing their whistles on the playing fields in Brisbane next month. The pair have been selected as part of the Hertz-sponsored referees’ exchange scheme which enables two Australian re-

ferees to officiate in Christchurch and vice versa. The scheme has taken place each year since 1979. Mr Hannan, a senior referee, and Mr McSporran, a senior reserve referee, will spend two weeks in Brisbane and could have as many as six matches to control during their stay.
