Lewis out; Simpson in
NZPA London Chris Lewis, last year’s beaten Wimbledon finalist, has been defeated in the first round of the Queen’s Club grand prix tennis tournament in London but his fellow New Zealander, Russell Simpson, is through to the second round. Simpson beat the Ameri-
can, David Pate, in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, but Lewis, seeded eighth, was ousted by an unseeded Frenchman, Guy Forget, 7-6, 7-5. Other seeded players to lose in the first round were the American, Bill Scanlon, his countryman, Brian Gottfried, and the Swedish player, Stefan Edberg.
