Canty pair eliminated

The Canterbury pair, Pam Dunbar and Maurice Berkeley, failed to qualify when section play in the New Zealand indoor bowls pairs championship began in Whangarei yesterday. Among the successful South Island qualifiers were Ron and Rae Inglis (Golden Bay), who won all three games, and the Nelson pair

of Nigel Warnes and Michael Gibbs. Last year’s runners-up, Glen Manson and Ron Searancke, of Hawke's Bay, failed to qualify and the title-holders, Arnold Hutchins and Ross Smith, of Poverty Bay, had to win their next three games to progress to post-section play.
