NZPA-AFP Southwest France The European formula two championship leader, Mike Thackwell, of New Zealand, earned pole position for today’s Pau Grand Prix when he drove his Ralt round the circuit in Imin
10.51 s in the second official practice yesterday. In the first official practice, he was second fastest behind France’s Philippe Streiff, but Streiff had to settle for third place on the grid after Brazil’s Roberto Moreno also outpaced him yesterday.
