Asian diamond market
NZPA-Reuter Singapore Singapore may become an alternative to Hong Kong as the Asian diamond market, says a manager of a leading diamond council. Mr Mark van Bockstael, who heads the diamond high council’s Gemmology Institute in Antwerp, said that Singapore’s importance as a diamond market is likely to increase because of the uncertainty over the future of Hong Kong. He was in Singapore to conduct courses on diamond grading and identification which the council is offering for the first time outside Belgium.
