St Andrew’s success
Scoring four tries in a dominant display, St Andrew’s College beat St Thomas’s College, 21-3, in a school championship rugby match played on Saturday. The St Andrew’s full-back, Scott Barclay, scored two of the side’s tries and added a conversion and a penalty goal. Michael Hanning and Peter Smith scored the other tries,
while Paul Tryon kicked a penalty goal for St Thomas’s. In the other matches, Linwood High School gave a gritty display but went down, 39-0, to St Bede’s College; Shirley Boys’ High School made an improved showing in losing, 3-23, to Christ’s College; and Xavier College lost narrowly, 6-3, to Burnside High School.
