Suspension threatened

PA Auckland The Olympic cyclist, Graeme Miller, of Auckland, has been threatened with suspension. Miller has received a telegram from the secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association, Barbara Levido, saying he would be suspended from all competition if he did not pay $450 incurred when he was in Switzerland last year. Miller, who finished fourteenth in the points race of the world championships in that country, said he was at a loss to understand the action. “I haven’t seen an itemised account for the money,” said

Miller, “but I understand it is to do with me going away early which, in the end, I did not do. "It's gone beyond a joke, as I have never been approached directly about paying the account.” The Auckland centre president, Mr Murray Laloli, said Miller had paid $l5OO towards the trip and the Auckland centre and the Point Chevalier club had made big contributions. “I feel Miller is being unfairly treated,” said Mr Laloli, “but as far as we are concerned it remains an internal matter between the national association and Bob Pratt, who went away as team manager.”
