Garner gets five wickets
NZPA-Reuter Swansea, Wales The West Indian fast bowler, Joel Garner, shattered Glamorgan on the opening day of a three-day match in Swansea on Saturday, taking five for 19 in 16 overs as the tourists continued to dominate county sides. In one devastating spell after lunch Garner took four wickets for three runs and, although Glamorgan managed to recover a little to 151 for seven, the offspinner, Roger Harper, then stepped in to seize two of the last three .wickets as Glamorgan tottered to 175 aU out Gamer had all the batsmen in trouble and 10 of his 16 overs were maidens. The opener, Alan Lewis Jones, who made a brave 50, and Younis Ahmed, with 33, were the only batsmen to make any progress, The scores: Glamorgan, first innings 175 (Jones 50, Younis* 33; Gamer 5/19, M. Holding 3/6; Harper 2/30); West Indies 1 49/1 (R. B. Richardson 29 n.a).
