Malaysians killed in crash
NZPA-AAP Sydney A minibus which crashed killing three people and injuring 13 others south-west of Sydney early yesterday had been rented out as an 11-seater vehicle. The managing director of Budget Rentals, Mr Bob Ansett, said yesterday that the minibus also had a folddown seat providing an
extra two places but he was puzzled how 16 people could have been travelling in the vehicle. His agency had no way of knowing how many people would be travelling in the bus, he said. The minibus veered off the F 5 freeway near Campbelltown, bounced off a drainage channel, and rolled over just after 12.30 a.m.
(local time). The bus had been rented out to a 23-year-old male Malaysian student, Mr Ansett said. The student was driving 15 Malaysian women students from Canberra to Sydney to attend a conference.
The police said that the three killed had been thrown from the bus.
