Aust. prices bolstered

NZPA-AAP SydneyBetter short-term indicators from overseas bolstered trading interest on Australian sharemarkets yesterday although by the close most sectors had made only marginal gains. Higher prices for gold and commodities encouraged overseas interest in mining leaders, although manv metal stocks still finished the day cheaper. ACI failed to respond to its 128 per cent annual profit increase, closing steady at 185 c. TNT was again in demand with a special sale of IM shares at 183 c, although in general trading the issue closed 1c lower at 184 c.

A special sale of 120,000 Kimberley Securities shares changed hands at 80c, 29c

higher than its previous trading. The parcel represents about 6 per cent of the company’s listed capital.
