‘Utu’ goes to France
PA Wellington The film, Utu” has achieved a marketing “first” for the New Zealand film industry by being sold to France.
In a deal made at the Cannes International Film Festival, a big French distribution and exhibition company, Gaumont, will show “Utu” at 40 venues simultaneously throughout France late in June.
Speaking from the festival yesterday, the executive producer of “Utu,” Don Blakeney, described the sale as a break through for the New Zealand film industry.
