Seven rifles stolen

Police inquiries are continuing into the burglary of seven rifles from the Paparua Smallbore Rifle Club on Thursday night. A spokesman for the Hornby Police said that burglars broke into the club’s premises in Waterloo Road between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and 7.20 a.m. on

Thursday. They forced open an armoured cabinet and snipped padlocks sealing the cabinet with bolt cutters. Six .22 calibre target rifles and a seventh privately owned rifle were stolen from the cabinet. The Hornby C. 1.8. are continuing inquiries into the burglary.
