Astronomy conference begins
About 100 astronomers converged on the University of Canterbury yesterday for the start of the annual Conference of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand. The three-day conference, which has attracted people from all over New Zealand, and three from Australia, is being held at the School of Engineering, and is open to the public. A registration fee of $8 a day is being charged. Papers covered include “Halley’s Comet for beginners” at 9.55 a.m. today and “Promotion of Astronomy in schools” at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
