Aust. banks up
PA Sydney Demand for banking stocks by local and overseas investors provided the main strength in moderate volume trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Brokers said buyers were taking positions ahead of the Westpac interim result, due out today. ANZ was the most active, closing 8c up at 590. Westpac rose 5c to 395 and National 10c to 372.
