Aust. craft
An Australian, Carl Andrews, will visit Christchurch this week to speak on contemporary Australian craft. Mr Andrew is the assistant director of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences in Sydney. Mr Andrew’s special field-
is applied arts and he is responsible for a collection of contemporary Australian crafts for the museum. The museum was opened in November of last year but the crafts collection will not be completed until 1988. Displays of recent acquisitions by the museum will be shown in the meantime. Mr Andrew will show slides on Australian crafts at the Canterbury Museum theatre on Friday and give a public lecture tomorrow evening. He is in New Zealand at the invitation of the New Zealand Craft Council to assist with the selection of items for the council’s Great New Zealand Box Show later in May.
