Taxi used to ferry drugs

PA Auckland A Parnell salesgirl thought a good way of getting some cannabis to her boyfriend early yesterday morning would be to send it by taxi, the District Court at Auckland heard yesterday- _ . _

Megan Carey, aged 17, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing cannabis and a charge of possessing cannabis seeds.

She was fined $l5O for possessing cannabis, and convicted but discharged for possessing seeds. Sergeant Roger Stevens said that about 2 a.m. a taxi

was called to a Parnell address.

Carey told the driver to take the envelope to a city restaurant, but the driver was suspicious about the envelope’s contents. He took it instead to the Central Police Station.

The police found cannabis cigarettes inside, and went to Carey’s address, where they found more cannabis and some cannabis seeds.

She said that her boyfriend had telephoned her and asked her to send some cannabis round and she thought it would be a good idea to send it by taxi, Sergeant Stevens said.
