New faces in final

For the first time since the inception of the division I men’s and women’s indoor hockey competitions, University and Carlton respectively will not be in the finals when they are played at Canterbury Court on Thursday evening. In the semi-finals last week, University, which has won the final for 11 successive years was beaten 3-0 by

Harewood. In the other semi-final High School Old Boys beat Selwyn 1-0. Carlton was beaten 1-0 by Selwyn in one women’s semi-final, and it will be the first time in the 10 years that the women’s competition has been run, that Carlton will not be in the final. The other women’s division I finalist is Burnside which beat Woolston 2-1.
