Unlit cycles
Sir,—l own a driving school and have a keen interest in all aspects of road safety. In an effort to improve cyclists’ visibility, and thereby safety, I began to manufacture and market reflectorised safety products five years ago. An apathetic response followed, but. thanks to the Accident Compensation Corporation’s “be safe — be seen” campaigns, this attitude is changing. Reflectorised safety products do not take the place of head and tail-lights, but are an effective way of increasing night visibility. Il you are a cyclist, protect yourself by conforming to the regulations and help motorists to see you. — Yours, etc., LOIS EAGLE. May 2, 1984.
