Canty referee chosen

Tony Drake, of Canterbury, is one of three referees included on the New Zealand rugby league international panel this season.

The other successful nominees were Don Wilson (Wellington) and Ray Shrimpton (Auckland). Mr Drake has also been appointed to control the games between Central Dis-

tricts and Northern Districts at Wellington on May 12 and Queensland Country against South Island at the Show Grounds on May 26. South’s fixture with Central at Greymouth on Sunday will be refereed by Mr Shrimpton, and Mr Wilson is to officiate in the match between South and Auckland at Auckland on May 20.
