Crash on Desert Rd kills three
PA New Plymouth Three people, including two boys, all from Marton, were killed in a collision between a car and an articulated truck on the Desert Road on Wednesday morning. They were Brian Robert Mcllwaine, aged 45, a company director, and his son, Mark Mcllwaine, aged 11,
and Timothy Mark Marrett, aged 11.
The victims were in a car travelling north on a straight stretch of the road 15km north of Waiouru. The driver of the truck, whose name has not been released, was not injured. The police said that the road was very slippery with snow.
