Support sought for pool
A report outlining ways of keeping the St Albans Swimming Pool open will be presented to the Christchurch City Council’s parks and reserves committee next week.
At a public meeting on Tuesday a management committee was established to try to stop the pool from closing. Falling patronage and dwindling support for the St Albans Amateur Swimming Club have jeopardised the future of the pool. Included in the report to the committee next week will be promotional ideas and suggestions to reduce the operating deficit. The report believes that the pool can be kept open with City Council support.
