Canty hockey team

A strong Canterbury XI has been named to play the Canterbury colts in the first representative hockey

match of the season at Porritt Park on Sunday. Jim Bowden, the Canterbury selector-coach, has included 10 of the team that was beaten by Auckland in the final of the Challenge Shield at the national tournament in Palmerston North last year. Nine University players, who leave on Friday in the New Zealand universities team for a two week tour of Australia, were not consid-

ered for the team. None of the colts team were considered for the Canterbury XI.

The three players chosen this week in the New Zealand Olympic team — George Carnoutsos, Balvant Bhana and Robin Wilson — have been included in the Canterbury XI. The Canterbury XI is: Don Davis, Mark Beatson, Andy Innes, Richard Munt, Wilson (captain), Craig Burtt, Richard Schoeman, Bhana, Carnoutsos, Chris Leslie, lan Riach, Glen Hayde.
