North Islanders to ride at Rangiora on Monday

Noel Harris and Maree Lyndon will come south to ride at the North Canterbury Racing Club’s second autumn meeting on Monday. Harris will ride Clarehaven in the Inglewood Stakes and Lyndon has been engaged for Notusho, one of the most interesting lightweight runners in the Rangiora Handicap. Clarehaven has been in the care of Tony and Lyn Prendergast since she was sent south from Hastings last week. Notusho had no luck in the running in his race at the North Canterbury club’s first autumn meeting last Saturday but could test the best with his 48.5 in the first

leg of the T.A.B. double on Monday. Hint, favourite for the Inglewood Stakes at Rangiora, had assistance from her stablemate, Upper Cut, to complete a satisfactory trial on the plough at Riccarton yesterday. Hint returned 1:30.6 for 1400 and finished within a neck of Upper Cut, which joined in for the last 800. The stablemates recorded 38.8 for the final 600 m. Harbor Flo finished her work by running 600 m in 38.95. Her stablemates, Pamdora and Amy Annie, got through their 1400 m in 1:31.2, the last 600 m in 39.65.

wood Stakes. Grant Davison will be her race rider. John Dowling will ride Pamdora in the Rangiora Handicap. Charles Beaufort and Clansman, members of Dave Kerr’s team in the Rangiora Handicap, got through solo tasks on the plough. Charles Beaufort ran 1200 m in 1:18.4, the last 600 m in 38.25. Clansman cantered a round on the plough, the brush over 600 m in 41s.

Noble Note led Gaffa by a length and a half ending 600 m in 37.25. Donizetti and Secured Money came up with 38.4 s after striding work over a round.

Tide, one of the emergencies for the Swannanoa

Maiden Plate at the North Canterbury meeting, easily outran Kaoru Boy over 1400 m and returned an impressive 1:29.8. Sir Fox ran up easily early in the gallop to finish 600 m alongside Double Ambition in 38.65. Sir Fox, now in the Prendergast stable, looks bright and solid to start a fresh campaign at the North Canterbury meeting.

The No. 7 grass, the alternative galloping track, offered fast footing, but was lightly used. Auk Princess and Jack’s Lad sprinted 1200 m in 1:16.6, easing in the straight after cutting out the opening 600 m in 37.45. Miss Tryphena Bay and Butternut led Royal Dream finishing 600 m in 365.
