Increase of $1000
The stake for the New Zealand Two-year-old Trotting Stakes has been increased by $lOOO to $5OOO by the Canterbury Park Trotting Club. The mobile start 2000 m event will be run at the club’s winter meeting at Addington Raceway on Friday, May 25. The Stan Andrews Stakes, for two-year-old pacers, has had its stake raised to $5OOO from $4OOO. Run eight days before the Sapling Stakes at Ashburton, the race will have non-winners and winners of one race on the front, while those assessed at C2 and faster will be handicapped on 10m. The Canterbury Park Winter Cup will this year be worth $7OOO, an increase of $5OO. The race will cater for horses assessed at C 6 and faster and will be run over 3200 m. Should an open-class horse be successful, the winner’s stake will be increased to $5200.
