Smolenski review unsuccessful

The Weedons trainerdriver, Jack Smolensk!, will have to serve out the term of suspension imposed on him at Washdyke last Saturday. A sub-committee of the executive of the Trotting Conference yesterday declined to alter the suspension, which is effective until after April 19. They also ordered that Smolenski’s $5O deposit, paid when he requested the review of penalty imposed on Saturday, be forfeited.

The decision was reached after submissions from counsel representing Smolensk! and the stipendiary stewards were heard. The sub-committee comprised Messrs F. D. Robertshaw (chairman) of Auckland, C. R. Elliott of Morrinsville, C. H. Baynes of Gore, and Dr I. N. R. McKay, of Palmerston North.

lan Cameron will replace Smolensk! as the driver of Lord Louie in the John Brandon Flying Stakes at Addington Raceway on Saturday evening.
