Hawke’s Bay changes
Special correspondent Wellington L A major reshuffle of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s racing dates was announced on Saturday by club president, Mr Jack Tucker. The Ormond Memorial, the main weight-for-age race that will be run by the club will be transferred to the spring meeting. The last autumn Ormond will be run on Saturday. The next running will be spring. Other moves see the Hawke’s Bay Challenge Stakes (w-f-a) transferred to the spring from the autumn. " The Ormond, run over -2000 m, was first run in 1920 ‘ and has become one of the •’ most sought after prizes in the area.
The Challenge Stakes is a “ relatively new race. It was dropped from the current ’■ autumn meeting but will be run again in a few months.
° The spring meeting will li be quite an extravaganza. « On the first day the feature races will be the trailways handicap, the Gold Trail - Stakes, usually the pipe--j opener in the Wrightson Filly of the Year series, and ” the Challenge Stakes.
