Air cadets to run for funds

About 125 Air Training Corps cadets will hold a sponsored run round the perimeter of the Wigram R.N.Z.A.F. base tomorrow to raise funds for the refurbishing of their building. The cadets, both male and female and aged 13 to 18, will begin the run at 10 a.m. Each will aim to run three times round the 6.7 km inner perimeter of the base. They hope to raise $2OOO. The No. 17 Christchurch and No. 18 Avon A.T.C. squadrons are both based at Wigram. Their building has recently been moved and the funds are needed to rearrange internal walls, make storage space, a lecture room, administrative space, and toilet facilities. The run, to begin at No. 7 hangar, is expected to take up to three hours.
