Charges dismissed

Because the Crown was unable to produce its witnesses at a District Court trial yesterday, Peter John Regan was discharged on two counts of threatening to kill and one count of demanding $l5O with menaces.

Regan, aged 21 (Ms E. H. B. Thompson) had denied the charges which were laid after an incident last Octo-

ber 15 in which it was alleged he threatened a man and a woman while brandishing a knife. He was committed to the District Court for trial after a depositions hearing on December 5. A further charge of wilful damage arising from the

same incident was also withdrawn as the prosecution witnesses could not be found.
