N.Z.U.C. index slumps 23 points

The N.Z.U.C. industrial index slumped 23.88 points as share prices dropped sharply on a moderately active New Zealand Stock Exchange yesterday. The index closed at 1329.30. N.Z. Forest Products lost 25c to 600 c, Freightways 30c, Feltex 20c, Skellerup 20c, and Yates Corporation 15c. Going against the trend were Command, Goodman Group, and Marac Holdings. Rex Consolidated fell 17c to 300 c, after gaining the same amount on Wednesday after issuing a “don’t sell” notice. Oil issues were easier after further disappointing news about the exploration programme off the coast of Taranaki.
