Bell letter

NZPA Melbourne Bell Resources, Ltd, has been ordered to send a letter to shareholders of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd, by March 5, outlining the closing date for withdrawals and additional information about the Perth company since December 31. Justice Hampel, of the Victorian Supreme Court, also ordered that Bell Resources pay BHP’s legal costs from the hearing, which began on February 21. The letter, signed by the chairman of Bell Resources, Mr Robert Holmes aCourt, said BHP shareholders could withdraw their acceptance of the tender offer on or before 3 p.m. Perth time on March 12.

Mr Holmes aCourt said that if the form enabling withdrawal of acceptances was not received by March 12 then shareholders would be deemed to . have confirmed their acceptance. “Shares in Bell Resources will be issued to shareholders who confirm their acceptance, or who are deemed to do so, as soon as practicable after the meeting of Bell Resources to be held on March 8,” Mr Holmes aCourt said.
