Secret Knight fit for Greymouth meeting
By

Secret Knight, although only third, looked fit for Dellaca’s Fashion Pace at the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday with a solid run at the Addington trials yesterday. The Timely Knight entire, handy throughout, finished on for a close-up third behind Rapid Lustre and Freightman in the C 3 and 4 pacers heat and will not be the least of chances in the first leg of the T.A.B. double on Saturday. He was driven yesterday by Peter Jones, who again replaces the suspended trainer-driver, Brent Blandford, at Greymouth. The heat was won in style by Rapid Lustre, in 3min 29.3 s for the 2600 m, which looks in top order for the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting next Wednesday. She finished powerfully after receiving a good run on the outer to win by half a length from Freightman, which settled three back on the outer and rushed up on the home turn. Secret Knight was a head back for third after trailing on the home turn.
The leaders cut out the last 800 m in Imin 0.45, with their final 400 m in 29.85.
Glen Lustre and Mighty
Me indicated they are nearing their best when they fought out the finish to the C5-C9 pacers heat. Glen Lustre, seventh firstup behind Agrinion and company at Addington on February 15, tangled early but recovered to take the lead at the 1200 m. He stayed on well to hold out Mighty Me by half a length in 3min 25.55.
Mighty Me, which started from 40m behind, swept up from the back at the 500 m to track the leader into the straight He was not seriously pushed and appears close to his best, recording 3min 24s for second.
Glen Lustre sped over his closing 800 m in 58.9 s and his final 400 m in 29.35. Rosewood Dream, which led from the 600 m, then trailed the winner from the 1200 m, fought on for third, two and a half lengths back. Kitty’s Pride, which has a bad draw to overcome in the King’s Hotel Handicap at Greymouth, showed dash to lead all the way in her heat yesterday, holding out Anzac Parade by a neck in 3min 27.85.
Sigma gave a foolproof display to lead all the way in the first two-year-old heat, winning by two and a half lengths in a sedate 2min 45s for the 2000 m, while Adios Trick, an Overtrick filly in Jack Smolen-
ski’s Weedons team, finished well to win the second heat by a head in a faster 2min 41s. Results:
