James (Rangiora) in the semifinals at Sydenham this morning of the Christchurch women’s bowls champion - of - champions fours. Mrs Whiting, who as a centre gold star holder has the best record of the

four, will, no doubt, be mindful of last year when she was beaten in the semi-finals. In the quarters-finals yesterday Mrs Cox beat J. Dickson (Woolston Park), 20-17, Mrs Whiting eliminated I. Krijt (Kaiapoi), 2511, Mrs Buckley beat D. McDonnell (Morrison Avenue), 25-13, and Mrs James put out N. Biggins (Sydenham), 30-15.
