Imperial Chemical Industries, PLC, said an improvement in world-wide petrochemicals, plastics, and fibres markets in the fourth quarter, together with a strong fertiliser performance, more than offset seasonal declines in agricultural chemicals and paint. ICI was commenting on its results for 1983 which showed its pre-tax profit rose 139 per cent to SNZI337M. The tax provision was $442M and after extraordinary losses of $41.8M the net profit was J831.6M.
