Four-point cricket lead

Canterbury now has a four-point lead in the Shell Trophy cricket competition. With all teams having played six matches, the points are: Canterbury 44, Wellington 40, Auckland 40, Central Districts 36, Otago 28, Northern Districts 4. On Friday, Canterbury plays Wellington at Christchurch, Central meets Auckland at Nelson, and Northern is drawn to play Otago at Hamilton. tral and Canterbury meets Auckland at Eden Park. One change has been made in the Canterbury team for its last home game, against Wellington. Craig Thiele is again available, and he replaces Ken Taylor. The team of 12 is: Cran Bull (captain), Dayle Hadlee, Rod Fulton, Anup Nathu, Ray Jones, Vaughan Brown, Paul McEwan, Ash Hart, Steve McNally, Andrew Nuttall, Tony Blain and Thiele.
