St Albans, Park women win

St Albans and Lancaster Park had wins in a round of 60-over matches in the Christchurch senior women’s cricket competition on Saturday. St Albans batted first in its game against Riccarton and at the end of its allotted overs reached 205. Ann McKenna top-scored with 50, Karen Hadlee made 41 and Brigit Legg 31. Riccarton was never in a position to chase the large total, and was dismissed for a meagre 86. Catherine Campbell was responsible for the Riccarton collapse. She gave an outstanding bowling performance, taking six for 15 including a hat-trick.

Lancaster Park batted first in its game against Sydenham. Park batted slowly but a solid

innings of 61 by Jenny Olson enabled it to reach 175 for eight from its 60 overs. Sydenham was given a good start bv its openers and when Nicki turner, who scored 80 superbly compiled runs, was out, Sydenham needed 36 from 25 overs with six wickets in credit. The comfortable target was too much for Sydenham however, and it was’ out 14 runs short of victory. Results.— St Albans 205 (McKenna 50, Hadlee 41. Legg 31) beat Riccarton 86 (C. Campbel] 6/15 including hat-trick). Lancaster Park 175 8 (Olson 61, S. Storey 27. D. Hockley 22, D. Ford 23; S. Weaver 2/36. N. Williams 2/39) beat Sydenham 161 (Turner 80, M. Campbell 30; R.
